Based on the expressed wishes for the logo, various design concepts were explored. They referenced several logos containing monograms when presenting us with with some examples they liked. I looked for ways to tie the "H" and the "E" together in interesting ways, such as joining them with the same stem or crossbar. I also played with overlapping the letters. I experimented with combinations of serif and organic fonts, aiming for visual balance and incorporating swirls to evoke an element of smoke.
After reviewing initial concepts, the client expressed interest in a different direction, favoring more of an organic logotype than a logo with an icon. I explored a range of script and sans-serif font combinations, ultimately leaning towards script fonts on top and sans-serif fonts on the bottom for a balanced and modern aesthetic. They also wanted to see a logo that combined script and sans-serif on the top, and I provided them with two options.
Towards the end of the project, the client showed a strong interest in a badge-style logo, prompting us to explore this concept more thoroughly. The original serif letters that were in the center were replaced with script, and stars were added. When we initially began color exploration, the client provided us with a wide range of potential options. We narrowed it down to three colors and compared them with gold verses silver accents on a gray background to mimic the color of the employee's shirt.
The client decided to proceed with the badge logo for employee uniforms, as it effectively conveyed the desired sense of security and professionalism. They also favored a logo that used the script and sans-serif font combination and decided to reserve it for the website. By using the same fonts and color scheme, a cohesive and adaptable brand identity was created.
